Meet the Founder of GISIE

Amos Fon is a seasoned professional whose career spans over 35 years in the social economy, with extensive experience in credit union management, non-profit leadership, and university teaching in Cameroon.
His lifelong passion for social and economic development came into sharp focus in 2010 with the founding of African Dream—a social business committed to unlocking human potential and empowering youths, women, and communities to take charge of their livelihood challenges.
Amos began his academic and professional journey by earning Professional Diplomas in Accounting and Management from the United Kingdom, later advancing to obtain a Master’s degree in Development Economics from Southern New Hampshire University, USA, where he specialized in Micro-enterprise Development.
He is also a Fellow of the Microfinance Association in London, reflecting his deep-rooted commitment to microfinance as a sustainable development tool.
In 2022–2023, Amos was awarded a prestigious scholarship to join Cohort Four of the Inspired Leadership Initiative (ILI) at the University of Notre Dame. This transformative fellowship offered him the space and opportunity to pause, reflect, and redefine what he calls the "second chapter" of his life—one marked by purpose, intentionality, impact, and legacy.
It was during this enriching period that the concept of the Global Institute for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (GISIE) was conceived.
Born and raised in Mankon, Bamenda, Cameroon, Amos overcame significant obstacles throughout his early life. His journey from adversity to achievement has made him a mentor and role model to thousands of young people, who are continually inspired by his story and his work.
Today, Amos remains deeply committed to addressing the development challenges of Sub-Saharan Africa. His research interests include wealth creation, youth empowerment, and microfinance as effective tools for inclusive economic development.
He is currently focused on building a network of Youth Economic Empowerment Groups across Cameroon, as part of his broader mission to foster sustainable growth and opportunity for future generations.
